Is there a beauty secret that you can reveal? Small tricks you can offer?

Never go to sleep with make-up on (sleeping with makeup on really cracks and dries out your poor skin). Don’t drink too much alcohol (alcohol dehydrates your skin making it look tired and worn out). Drink lots of water (hydration is a huge all over beauty secret).

Try and eat as many raw green veggies or drink as much raw green veggie juice as possible (after adding this to your diet you won’t believe how much younger and healthier your skin will look in a short amount of time). Stop smoking (it’s creates so many extra wrinkles)!

Everybody is talking about BB Creams. What do you think of the new formula?

Blemish Balm Cream a.k.a BB Cream, is one of Asia’s most sought after beauty products right now. Originally used by German dermatologists’ to sooth & regenerate skin after laser sugery, BB cream is a great product for all those who have troubled skin and need some healing components. If you have oily skin or pimples BB cream might be the perfect option for you. It’s an all in one product & does provide a good coverage without being too heavy but I would still suggest using your normal moisturizer or SPF under it first to make sure your skin has the maximum amount of hydration & protection needed throughout the day. All in one products are great, but remember that when it’s all in one it is each specific component is diluted down from it’s original concentration. So for instance never think that just because there is a high SPF in any given product that you are truly getting the full benefits of a concentrated SPF. Some people say that this is the best BB cream and never leaves them oily.

I like many different kinds so you just have to play and see which one feels right on your own skin!

Which beauty labels do you prefer?

Honestly, you can find awesome products from every single brand out there.I so enjoy discovering the items I can’t live without and mixing and matching all of them into my makeup kit! When I am in Berlin for example right across the street from the KaDeWe there is this amazing generic makeup/drug store where you can find incredible cheapy make-up gems that can be equally as great as any of the expensive items found at the KaDeWe.

It’s always the same: you want to look great for an event and the morning you wake up you see that there is a pimple on your face – Are there any trick’s to get rid of it quickly?

Ok first of all: do not pick at your pimple! The worst thing to do is to pick at your poor pimple. It’s terrible for your skin if not done correctly and can leave scars, but also when you break the top layer of your skin like that it is next to impossible to then try and conceal the pimple with coverup make-up because the coverup has no skin to adhere to. The freshly picked raw skin that remains separates the make-up leaving your face looking like a mess and once you break a pimple there is no guarantee the bleeding will stop either. Here’s a trick that sometimes works to reduce the volume of a pimple in a pinch… freeze the pimple by holding an ice cube on it for 10 minutes. Then, before applying your makeup, saturate a cotton ball with Eye Drops and press it to the pimple for another minute or so. This will minimize the redness at the very least. Then use a thick concealer (derma blend is what I use for these situations) to cover it up and add a powder foundation over that. It might be big, but at least the redness will be covered up for all of the pictures!

Which celebrities would you like to make up some day?

My current celebrity wish list includes beauties such as: Julianne Moore, Charlize Theron, Kate Middleton, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez & Singer’s Jessie J & Adele.

Nicole Bryl is a famous make-up artist living in New York City. Among her clients: the Hilfiger Family, the Trump Family, Naomi Watts and many more. I got the chance to ask her a few questions. Today you can read about beauty trends, which royals have already been clients of Nicole, she reveals beauty secrets and much more – have fun!

I read that you always dreamed of being a make-up artist. What fascinates you about your job? Are there also downsides?

Things I love about being a Freelance Make-up Artist…. well to be clear, living the life of “freelancer” no matter what you do is already a unique way of living.

First of all let me acknowledge how wonderful is it to get paid to be creative everyday and to be able to pick and choose my projects and clients! I am super grateful for this freedom and because of it I truly love the people I choose to spend my days with!

I am happiest not going to the same location everyday. If I had to sit at the same desk in the same room day after day I think I would slowly die. I need to constantly move like a car needs fuel. I enjoy being on the go professionally.

Seeing new faces and new locations each day keeps life fresh for me. Even if I am working with the same clients year after year I never feel couped up or in a routine in anyway because we are usually in their homes or hotel rooms or on a plane or helicopter or some other location thats enjoyable or breezy. For me this is what makes life interesting.

I know quit well that there are so many people out there that would hate this feeling of “not knowing” where they will be the next day as it is all based on blind faith when you freelance, but to me this is work life at it’s best and I never tire from it.

Oddly enough, this kind of running around comes with one big downfall which I do not enjoy at all and this is the constant schlepp. Because I am always running from one location to the next with my very heavy work gear in and out of taxi cabs up and down stairs packing and unpacking my kit all day long day after day year after year my poor back begins to scream at me after a while and I can feel really physically exhausted by the end of the day. But hey, nothing is perfect and as long as my body will carry me forward I will keep running around. This is also why I usually take the entire month of August off each year. One full month to totally unwind. I always head straight to Berlin of course. A city that totally recharges my creative batteries and the place I call home when I am in Europe. There I enjoy “me” time with many friends that I have adopted as family over the years!

What is the look for this summer? What are the current make-up trends?

The biggest color trends for 2012 spring/summer is sea foam/mint green, as well neon’s on lips and nails, such as oranges, bright blues, yellows, greens and hot pinks.

Do you always wear make-up yourself in your private life? 

On the rare occasion I have a full day off in NY without seeing a client I never wear a stitch of make-up.If I am at my desk all day long doing paper work or writing an article I so enjoy having a personal make-up day off! Of course, if I go out socially I will put some on but if I am home alone or even if a few good friends pop over to visit me no way!

Although when I am on vacation I so much enjoy taking the time every morning after my shower to slowly put my own make-up on. Because I have time for only me, I actually take the time to be creative with my own face which I never get a chance to do when I am in NY working and getting up at 4am everyday. This personal make-up luxury is a great deal of fun for sure!

Was there a highlight in your career so far?

Goodness, so many highlights in a 27 year career where to even begin.

Well, most recently making up Prince Albert & HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco when they were in NY. I really enjoy working with royalty. There is always so much class and elegance involved!

If you were limited to three products, which products would you choose?

Wow that’s a tough one but if I had to choose only 3 for my own personal face:

Studio Fix Duel Finish Powder Foundation by MAC, L’Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara and it would be a toss up for the third and final product between blush & lipstick.. hmmmm tough one.

The Tommy Hilfiger Fall Winter 2012 collection is dark, but nevertheless colorful. Burgundy is the most dominant color, which I find very elegant and will love to wear next winter. The evening dresses show classic silhouettes – my favorite is the dark green dress you can see above – and we can see houndstooth print and hunting suits. For my taste, a little too much “riding theme”, but altogether I like the classic look of the collection and I love the military influence, especially the jackets.

Die Sonne scheint, ich trage Neonfarben und helle Jeans und träume davon, dass es nie wieder Winter wird. Es gibt jedoch einen Grund, das Ende des Sommers herbeizusehnen: die tollen Herbst Winter Kollektionen. Heute möchte ich euch die Tommy Hilfiger Fall Winter 2012 Kollektion näher bringen, die den Namen “Town and Country” trägt. Beim Betrachten der eleganten Kollektion stelle ich mir starke Frauen auf ihren Landsitzen vor, die von einem Ausritt zurückkehren und dann in die Stadt fahren, um zu arbeiten.

Die Tommy Hilfiger Fall Winter 2012 Kollektion ist dunkel gehalten, aber trotzdem keinesfalls farblos. Burgund ist die dominierende Farbe und ich freue mich schon sehr auf das dunkle Rot im nächsten Winter. Die Abendkleider sind sehr klassisch geschnitten – mein Favorit ist das dunkelgrüne Kleid, das ihr oben sehen könnt. Außerdem sehen wir in der Kollektion viele Jagd-Kostüme mit Hahnentritt-Muster. Für mich ein wenig zu viel “Jagd”, aber dennoch mag ich die klassische Kollektion und besonders der Military-Einfluss – wie in den Jacken zu sehen – gefällt mir sehr.

Summer is my favorite time of the year. I love to just put a summer dress on, apply a little make-up and to spend time outdoors in the sun. Today, I want to show you my summer beauty favorites. At the moment I am wearing my turquoise MAC eyeliner a lot. For work I prefer a natural look with my new Burberry “Sheer eye shadow” (No. 22 Pale Barley). Of course, I wear pink or coral colors on my nails (you guys know me). I like that Butter London nail polish does not smell as bad as other nail polishes. The color “disco biscuit” has a little glitter. My lipgloss of the moment is Rouge Bunny Rouge – it  looks natural on my lips and the color “Relish of Heaven, no. 048″ is just the perfect shade of peach.

Der Sommer ist meine absolute Lieblingsjahreszeit. Ich liebe es, einfach nur ein Sommerkleid überzuwerfen, ein wenig Make-Up aufzutragen und viel Zeit draußen in der Sonne zu verbringen. Heute möchte ich euch einige meiner Beauty Favorites für den Sommer vorstellen. Ich trage im Sommer (auch schon letzten Sommer) sehr gern meinen türkisfarbenen Eyeliner von MAC. Für die Arbeit trage ich oft meinen neuen Burberry Lidschatten in “Pale Barley, nr. 22″ auf, der nur für einen leichten Schimmer über den Augen sorgt. Auf meinen Nägeln trage ich am liebsten Pink und Korall, neben meinem absoluten Lieblingsnagellack von ANNY, trage ich im Moment gern “Disco Biscuit” von Butter. Ich finde es angenehm, dass Butter Nagellack nicht so stark riecht. “Disco Biscuit” enthält Glitzerpartikel, die toll in der Sonne glitzern. Mein absoluter Favorit ist im Moment aber eindeutig der “Relish of Heaven” Lipgloss von Rouge Bunny Rouge. Ich benutze ihn im Moment jeden Tag, weil er einfach die perfekte Nuance Pfirsich für mich ist.

The leather bag with bamboo handle resembles tradition and high-tech, history and high-fashion and stands for Frida Giannini’s vision of modern luxury. Did you know that the Gucci Bamboo was first produced in 1947? In 2010, Frida Giannini invented the “New Bamboo”, which is handmade and is composed of 140 small pieces – like in 1947, it takes 13 hours to create one bag. That’s luxury!

The sun is shining in Hamburg – and it is finally getting warmer! Last year, I already loved wearing my denim shirt, so I bought another one at Zara recently. My outfit is casual, but not as simple as jeans and t-shirt. The pink jeans by Tom Tailor puts me in a happy mood immediately – summer, let’s go!

Die Sonne scheint in Hamburg – endlich wird es wärmer! Schon im letzten Jahr habe ich mein Jeanshemd geliebt und habe deshalb vor kurzem ein weiteres bei Zara gekauft. Das Outfit ist lässig, aber nicht so schlicht wie Jeans und T-Shirt. Die Jeans in “papaya pink” von Tom Tailor versetzt mich sofort in eine fröhliche Stimmung – auf geht’s, Sommer!
